| | The
other night, when I arrived home after spending the day on set shooting as principal
performer on an Adidas commercial, I was rushing to put together my May article
for you. Then I realized rushing would not make my article any better for you
to read. So I decided to slow down and take a break instead.
Judge Day congratulates me for becoming a Canadian citizen. |
Arriving on set for the Adidas commercial. |
The crew is setting up the tires (to explode) for the commercial. |
Since
last month's article - Where Have Your
Decisions Led You? - I've been bombarded with life-altering decisions
dealing with my career, finance, residence, citizenship, and other more personal
matters. Though it's all been extremely challenging mentally and spiritually,
I'm excited to say this is another opportunity that will help me grow
and move my life journey forward to another wonderful stage of experiences.
Frankly, I'm exhausted this month, so I hope you don't mind if I take this opportunity
to sit back, relax and just enjoy my time with you (and wine). Say, why don't
we travel to Florence,
Italy, where I'll give you a mini tour of the prestigious Antinori
Winery and Vineyard? (Now, go get yourself a glass of wine - I'll go get mine
too.) Salute!
Visiting Capocaccia for a little music. |
Arriving at the Antinori family mansion. |
The
Antinori family has been in the wine business since Giovanni di Piero Antinori
joined the Florentine Guild of Vintners in 1385 - more than 26 generations ago.
Throughout the company long history it has remained family owned and operated,
and today it is directed by Marchese Piero Antinori. Though Antinori has played
an important role in preserving Italy's enological traditions, it is also one
of Italy's most dynamic and visionary producers of fine wines, with estates concentrated
in the best viticultural areas of Tuscany and Umbria.
Feed your faith and your doubts starve to death... |
Let's start here. |
The
company devotes a tremendous effort to improving the quality of its wines, through
carefully planned investments and research programs that cover all aspects of
production. The success of these programs allows the company to produce a comprehensive
range of quality wines from its different estates in Tuscany and Umbria. Over
the years, Antinori has received international recognition and gained numerous
awards, and enjoys a reputation as a leader and trendsetter.
Say hello to Barbara (Antinori Publicist and Host), my tour
guide. |
The mighty oak tree was once a little nut that held its ground. |
For
many years, Antinori has also owned a restaurant in the center of Florence called
Cantinetta Antinori, located inside Palazzo Antinori. Its success has lead to
the opening of two other Cantinetta Antinori in Zurich and Vienna. Antinori also
owns one of the oldest established Florentine delicatessen/gourmet stores called
Procacci, famous for its truffle specialties, located opposite Palazzo Antinori.
Mmmm...truffle, my favorite.
Am I allowed to squeeze the grape? |
It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again;
just be sure to flush when you're done. |
I'm getting a buzz just being down here. |
Let's go down to the dungeon.
|
Sold! I'll take them all! |
Let's make our own wine - the old fashion way. |
I could live here forever! |
If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, you
can bet the water bill is higher. |
Oh boy, my favorite part - the tasting. |
Let's start with these four bottles. |
Cheers to Barbara for organizing my wine tour. |
Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up... |
Entering Pinchiorri, a three-michelin star restaurant, for
dinner. |
Let's try them all!
|
Let's eat! |
You can never have too many handbags. |
Golly, I haven't seen one of these for a while. |
Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous. You will
get knocked down by the traffic from both ways. |
Visiting Ponte Vecchio, Florence's oldest bridge (built in
1345), the only one to survive WWII. |
Overlooking the Arno River.
|
Let's walk around. |
I'm hungry and a little grumpy, time to eat. |
Say, should I try and make her laugh? |
Keep walking, Penny...don't bother those nice people. |
Isn't there a jewelry shop around here somewhere? |
No, officer, I did not bother those nice people. |
Do you see what I see? |
Hello Mary Poppins! |
Florence, I'm not done with you yet. I'll be back! |
