I have just completed production of the 2006 Classic Beauty Vintage Guitar Calendar for a client of mine. As the producer and cover model for this project, I couldn't help but be reminded about how the decisions I had made in the past have blossomed into something greater than what I could've imagined for myself. No matter how difficult, impossible or even insignificant a situation might seem at the time, I knew that as long as I continued to cooperate with good intentions, the best of every situation would eventually reveal itself to me, at its own divine time—free from the influence of any negative "human" behavior. It is through this learning that made me realize the importance of infinite patience and the role of coincidences in our lives.

We have all experienced coincidences in our lives. The word itself perfectly describes its meaning: co means "with," and incidence means "event." So the word coincidence refers to events or incidents that occur with other incidents—two or more events occurring at the same time. Because the experience of coincidences is universal, most people take them for granted, life's little quirky moments that we marvel over, then quickly forget. Coincidences are so much more than amusements. They are clues to the intention of the universal spirit, and as such they're rich with significance. Coincidences are like coded messages, clues about particular facets of our lives that require our attention. It is just that sometimes we are able to glimpse their meaning and sometimes we aren't.

The clues you receive will not always come in the mail or flash on a television screen (although sometimes they will). Clues may be as subtle as the smell of home cooked meal wafting from your neighbor's home, which makes you think of your mother, which reminds you of the lyrics of a song she loves, which then somehow comes to play an important role in your life at the moment. Or they could be as subtle as a familiar phone call from a friend suggesting to meet up and do something new—and that just so happens to be the same thought you had earlier in the day.

Five years ago, I made a simple decision to join some friends for dinner on a boat cruise. When I called the cruise company to purchase my ticket, we had a miscommunication that led me on stage competing in the Miss Molson Indy Spokesperson Pageant, that afternoon. Long story short, I didn't think I was anywhere near ready to do something I have never done before, and I was extremely shocked with myself for rolling with the punches the way I did. To top it all off, I won the pageant. So soon enough I began to accept modeling opportunities, which led me to establish my marketing and communications business, which opened the door for me as a Playboy Producer, which led me to receive publicity from numerous media, which then somehow played an important role in promoting my professional credibility and entrepreneurial ventures. Thinking back to that fateful day five years ago, I almost decided to stay home that evening. What would've happened if I had decided to stay home? I wouldn't have made that phone call to purchase a ticket and had that miscommunication over the phone that "coincidentally" landed me on stage to win a pageant.

And so it is the same for you in your life. Right now, whatever point you are in your life, look back and notice how naturally your life flowed from one job or place to another, from one set of circumstances to an entirely different set. As you think about how your life evolved and how it affects the way you live now, I am certain you discovered many "coincidences." We have all experienced events that might be considered uncanny or amazing. Perhaps your car breaks down on the side of a road, and just when you had resigned yourself to being stranded for hours, the very first vehicle that comes along is a tow truck. Or you might have read a magazine article about an experimental skin cancer treatment, and for no apparent reason you decided to save that particular article. A week later, a friend calls to say that he just received a diagnosis of skin cancer—and that information in the article you saved influences his choices and ends up saving his life. Can such moments be ascribed to mere coincidence? Of course they can, but on closer examination they can also prove to be glimpses of the miraculous. Each time we have an experience like these, we can choose to dismiss it as a random occurrence in a chaotic world, or we can recognize it for the potentially life-altering event it may prove to be.

So much of life depends on chance meetings, twists of fate, or pathways that suddenly branch out in a new direction. If even one detail of your life had been handled differently, the amazing twists and turns of your past, the remarkable tale of your life, the people you would meet, the love you would create, the children you would bear, the impression you would leave upon this earth, could all move on an entirely different life trajectory. Even if a situation seemed totally insignificant at first, as the mystery of your life unfolds, you'll realize one area in your life could "coincidentally" affect many other areas in your life. So you see, when you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the fundamental field of limitless possibilities that help to guide and shape your life. And this is where the miraculous begins!
