On the set of the diamond commercial with Model Sonja. What
a week! I finally have a few days to relax now that I've completed my most recent
project coordinating a commercial production for one of my clients in the diamond
industry. As I'm sitting here, I am mentally preparing myself for my photo shoot
scheduled to take place in a few days. As an entrepreneur, producer, and model,
I always find myself mentally switching gears to arrange my thoughts in order
to accomplish what I want or need to do. Like me, I'm sure you've had to set your
mind to make things happen in your life as well. Ever wonder how we, as human
beings, are able to do that?
Getting the pose just right. My
exposure to the entertainment world always reminds me that ninety percent of what
we are cannot be seen with the physical eye. The reason is that the way we present
ourselves - the way we dress, act, walk, and talk - can distract from the reality
of who we truly are. Who we truly are is displayed in one of the greatest intangible
forces within us known as our thoughts. Sometimes, we neglect to embrace
or acknowledge their simple power.

is not as easy as it looks as I later had to balance a soccer ball on my feet.
Right: Striking a pose with China's top female soccer players,
Sun Wei and Pu Yi. As mission control, our brain
is both a broadcasting and receiving station for the vibration of thought. It
has the innate ability to send the message of our thoughts to our physical self.
It is our physical self that then manifests the intangible thoughts into the material
world so we can physically see, touch, weigh, and measure them. This is why most
of us depend too much on our physical senses, and limit our knowledge to physical
things. We can tend to forget or not even realize that the driving force behind
everything we materialize stems from our thoughts.

Hanging out with Alley from Team U.S. When
people encounter obstacles with each other, chances are their thoughts are not
in agreement. Sometimes one or more of the parties involved are intentionally
or unintentionally presenting their external selves in a way that is not parallel
to their internal selves, meaning their true intentions. These circumstances can
be deceiving as well as hurtful, especially when these intentions are coming from
a negative space. Whatever the case, it's important that we kindly search our
thoughts for the best strategy to deal with the situation while including a touch
of humor.
This is my digitally animated video game character, “Penny”,
produced by leading video game producer, Electronic Arts.
A snap shot taken from the video game. I
find that giving obstacles in life a funny, unrelated name often adds a little
humor to any scenario. (A little sense of humor here and there never hurts.) For
example, I refer to obstacles as "potatoes". I ask myself, How do
I want to deal with these potatoes? I can choose to bake them, mash them,
fry them, or roast them. Before I choose one or more of these methods, I put some
thought into the amount of effort required and the outcome preferred. For example,
baking the potatoes may require more work since I have to add bacon bits, sour
cream, and onions to get a flavorful result. However, roasting the potatoes does
not require any additional effort yet will yield a flavorful result with less
mess, too.
Signing autographs at a Benson and Hedges Gold Series Event. The
simple power of a thought applies to everything. A while ago, I was on the set
of the Adidas Martial Arts World Cup Soccer Commercial. My
credibility in martial arts had led me to a role as a "Professional Soccer
Player representing Team China". I was disguised in wardrobe, make-up, and
a character that was not my own. The "thought" of having to perform
this role, which included an intensive one-week physical training program, kick
started my mental preparation in order to aid my overall performance. On the day
of filming, a team of fans called out for me, mistaking me for a real Professional
Soccer Player from Team China. When they asked for my autograph and wanted photos
with me, I had to tell them that I wasn't the person they thought I was. That
didn't seem to change their minds.
Getting into character on Halloween night. |
Uh…I don't do small amounts. |
Dusting in the limo. Shortly
after the commercial aired, I was cast as the "Martial
Artist School Girl" in the number-one-selling Def Jam Vendetta wrestling
video game, produced by Electronic Arts. I had to bring my thoughts together to
get into my fictional character as the "Fighting School Girl". Frequently
during the shoot, I also had to switch my thoughts back to my non-fictional role
as the producer since I was also coordinating the production. It wasn't the easiest
thing to do, but it was amusing for everyone else to see me running around with
two different personalities.
There would be a lot more crime if cops really dressed like
that.
Ha! Got a hold of a Captain's hat for my airline-theme event. Speaking
of having different personalities, I recently hosted a French-theme Halloween
party to entertain my friends. I had decided to dress as a French maid, and so
I put a lot of thought into making that happen. I found a more than appropriate
attire to go along with my party theme as I blasted French music on the stereo,
served French wine, French baguettes with French cheese, and black peppercorn
pate. After many glasses of wine, I even spoke French, a language I barely knew.
MTV was there - and having a great time I might add. I
could go on with endless examples of how our thoughts control our existence, but
I know that will not be necessary. You get the picture. If we truly understood
how powerful our thoughts are, we wouldn't make room for any negative ideas, trivial
concerns, mundane needs, or quiet desperation. We will know that, As
we think, we shall become.
